I live in south London with my partner and my daughter and when not practising midwifery I like to knit, take photos and read, I’ve also been known to enjoy the odd spot of camping.

I came to midwifery after the birth of my daughter, but pregnancy and childbirth always fascinated me. It was only after my own experience of pregnancy and birth and being lucky enough to be present at friends births that the path to becoming a midwife was set. I feel blessed that I’ve found my vocation, one that I love and that still captivates me to this day. I am constantly amazed and inspired by the births I am privileged to witness.

I was lucky enough during my training to not only work within a midwifery-led unit, witnessing lots of normality, but to also experience caseload midwifery that was not always perfect but gave me a taste of what true midwifery could be like – offering continuity of care, earning trust, giving women choices based on evidence-based information.

Throughout my training I always had independent midwifery as an ideal in my mind, an opportunity to really practise the midwifery that is close to my heart, a chance to get to know my clients, to help them have their babies in their own environment, promoting normality and offering time and support in the true sense. This is why, after working within the hospital environment I took the leap into independent midwifery …………..and haven’t looked back
