![]() I live in Hackney with my 11-year-old son. Originally we are from Germany, where I worked as an independent midwife in the countryside before we moved to London and I joined forces with Elke, Jacqui and Sandesh. In addition to German and English I speak Norwegian and I am happy to provide care in these languages. As far back as I can remember I had wanted to become a midwife. Pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding have always held a very special fascination for me. Maybe that was partly why I had my own son as early as just 19 years old. I breastfed him for a long time and was much involved in a breastfeeding group. Apart from mothering I studied cultural anthropology and English language and literature. (Which still continue to be my second and third passion.) However, one day I decided time was ripe (and my son old enough) to persue my first passion, which until today continues to be midwifery. I enjoy supporting families continuously throughout the amazing journey of growing, having and nurturing their baby. I am interested in attachment parenting and related issues like co-sleeping, breastfeeding on demand and the many ways of tying slings. Another topic I find intriguing is nutrition. (Along the lines of wholesome, natural foods.) But what I feel most strongly about is safe-guarding a woman's dignity and right of choice. After all, it is her body, mind, soul and baby.
