"Pregnancy and birth are events to be celebrated and not feared"

My passion for midwifery comes from my fascination with childbirth and how as women, nature enables us to do something so amazing.

I trained at Kings College London where I was able to witness lots of natural births through community caseload midwifery, and it was here I developed my enthusiasm for homebirths - learning that the right environment and support for a woman whilst birthing her baby is key to her success.  I was also able to appreciate the benefit of water as pain relief during labour. Water birth and non-pharmaceutical analgesia is something I take a special interest in.

My training also opened my eyes to what midwifery care can sometimes lack.

I met women time and again wanting the same things from their childbirth experience - to know the midwife who would be supporting them during labour; to see the same midwife at their antenatal appointments; and to have a midwife to contact at any time should they encounter any problems.

Unfortunately this is not always the reality and I feel strongly that during what is a precious and life-changing time these basic needs should be met.

Such passion and experience was the driving force behind my desire to become an independent midwife, where I am now able to fulfil this dream for the women I care for. I aim to ensure they feel supported every step of the way and I feel privileged to be involved in such a personal and special event for women and their families. Every birth I attend still amazes me.

I live in South London with my partner and when not practising midwifery I enjoy keeping fit, baking, and indulging in my love for travelling.
